What should i do Yoga or Tai Chi for better health?

im not sure which one i should start learning, i want to do it everyday when i wake up first thing but im not sure which i should learn, and as they take a while to master i cant really do both, id rather focus purely on one, but im not sure what the benefits are of each so which is better in your opinion, i know they're both good but yoga is better in some areas and tai chi in others, and thats the part im stuck on, any advice? thanks.|||Yoga is more static whereas Tai Chi is much more dynamic in terms of movement. The human body was designed to move, in fact it is fueled by motion. I guess you could string together asanas so that they become a flow pattern but it still would not be as dynamic as Tai Chi. In Tai Chi, the movements are based on martial art technique but unfortunately not many Tai Chi instructors understand this component at all. In Tai Chi you use your legs so much more with varying deep or long stances leading to better balance. Both stretch the fascia but it is more targeted in Yoga whereas in Tai Chi the stretching, twisting, spiraling, extending can be across parts or the whole body at any one time. So in Yoga you stretch to relax whereas in Tai Chi you relax to stretch. Those who say that Yoga or Tai Chi are for old people have no idea what they are talking about. I've seen people do Power Yoga where they take Yoga to the physical limit or get into a Tai Chi form that is done in a very low stance that will really work your leg muscles. I hope this helps you.|||Yoga and tai chi offer the most benefits for the elderly, who are no longer capable of demanding exercise. If you're still young, push yourself--do resistance training and cardio. When you're old, you'll be glad you did.
